loving YOU is pretty CONTEST!

i am thrilled to announce Textured's very first little contest/giveaway!

the "loving YOU is pretty" idea came from the constant concern in my head with self-image and how we truly view ourselves. Yes, this blog is dedicated to fashion & personal style...but confidence & belief in the individual that you truly are goes hand-in-hand with your style and the way you look.

a person is most beautiful when they love themselves...who they truly are and who they desire to become.
weaknesses, struggles, and flaws included.
i hope to encourage you towards LOVING YOU & thought this month  was perfect timing.

the challenge:
*  Send in 1 thing that you really love about yourself.
(this cannot include anything that involves others, your surroundings, etc - this is about YOU)

* 1 winner will be chosen & announced (based off rules below)

$100 gift card to your favorite department store - you choose!

*Name, Hometown, & anything unique you'd like to include :)
* All entries DUE by Saturday, Feb 12.

Winner will be chosen based off of the following:

*most honest, unique answer
*amount of "love" shown

It's that easy! Honestly...the hardest part is answering the question "what do I love about me?" which is my whole point.

I'll leave you with these words by Pink. I'm loving this song right now:

"You're so mean, when you talk about yourself, you were wrong
Change the voices in your head, make them like you instead
So complicated, look happy, you'll make it!
Filled with so much hatred...such a tired game
It's enough! I've done all I can think of
Chased down all my demons, I've seen you do the same

Oh, pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel
Like you're less than f*ckin' perfect..."

  1. I love my passion. The emotions I feel, I feel deeply. It may be for a person, a television show, or (most of the time) a food/restaurant, but if I love it, you will know it. I can rarely think or talk about anything other than what is my current love. It can cause great pain and bring great joy...but my passion really makes me feel abundantly alive.

  2. I love that I hold myself accountable. Be it in faith, relationships, or studies, I love that I find strength in honesty and motivation in continuing on and never giving up. In admitting my faults and mistakes I am rewarded with the will to strive to learn from such situations and grow stronger and more confidant in who I am.
By holding myself accountable I can honestly say that I have no regrets thus far in life- and what a wonderful feeling that is!

  3. I truly love my eyes. (Am I going to be the only person that says something physical?) My whole life I've received compliments on my cat-like green eyes. They've truly become a part of my identity (maybe that's a bad thing?) I am also a very emotional and passionate person. I've learned to use my eyes to communicate non-verbally. Sometimes that's bad, like in the case of annoyance or frustration. But sometimes it's a very good thing -- like when I'm trying to seduce my husband. =)

  4. I've always been told that I'm a different kind of girl -- kind of a "guys gal," and never really a girly girl. I can oftentimes find the logic in things when others are consumed with emotions (disclaimer: I said oftentimes, not ALL the time). But, one thing I love is when I totally surprise myself with a true GIRL CRY moment. I'm always like: what the heck are you doing, Whitney?? What the hell is there to be crying about?!? There are some things that get me every time. I mean EVERY time. In the movie Hope Floats when Bernice is standing at her dad's car screaming "nooo dad, please don't go. You want me, you said so in the letter!" OMG. Tears. That song by Garth Brooks "She's Every Woman." Always wanted some boy to play that song for me in junior high, still makes me want to shed tears. When I think of people I know dying & I think of what I'd say about them at their funeral. Morbid, I know. I never said I was normal. Last, but not least, when I'm having a tough time and get great friend advice from one of my best friends, Bekah, and I do the whole laugh/cry thing all at the same time. I love my girl cry moments; sometimes I know it's coming and sometimes it hits me right out of the clear blue sky.

  7. I love that I can say funny things on a regular basis.
I LOVE humor and I'm always drawn to "funny" people, so I love that I can make people laugh.

  8. I love the funny imperfections I have. They make me unique and remind me that I am hand made by the Lord and don't come from a perfect mold. The first two that come to mind include my feet and my vocabulary.

My size 5.5 feet are "Fred Flinstone" feet, nearly as wide as they are long my three middle toes are all pretty much the same size and I have to buy shoes at least a size bigger just to accommodate the width of my little footsies

I accidentally revealed to you my second little imperfection before I even wrote about it. *hem hem--footsies?* I know the proper words for things but still insist on using a child's vocabulary more often then not. For example as a kid I always called chapstick "lip chap" and still do to this day. I end up sounding like a seven year old the vast majority of the time! :)

But, I love these things all the same!! They make me, me! And that is beautiful!

  9. LOVE is such a splendid thing... There are actually a lot of things I love about myself... and I am not egomaniac or narcissist but I am truly happy with myself and what God is doing in my live. I Love my legs, my teeth and my eyes even if one is slightly smaller in a Smokey room, I love that more than anything I will always be a daddy's girl and can hoop with the boys. I love the way God made me BUT most of all, I love the way I love. I was gifted with a keen intuition and ability to encourage and uplift others. I know how to bring a smile to your face and I love the way I can make someone know they the hottest sexiest Women in the room and all eyes are on them. I love this idea because the best way to love others is to love you and we can’t change our circumstance but we can change our attitudes. SO I AM LOVING this SO BE BOLD and everyone was made in his image so you one sexy B so strut it and write as if you own it. Hot and dangerous!! xoxo

  10. My love compliment is OPTIMISM!! I love I am capable of being optimistic in all situations. The ability to be optimistic is a tremendous coping tool for all the trials and tribulations in life. Being able to look on the bright side has helped me move forward in a positive manner through some of life’s most difficult times. Optimism keeps me focused on the good instead of drowning in the bad. I love that my optimism has not only helped me be a survivor in life but has been beneficial to others in my life. Optimism helps me cope with my present situation and have hope for the good things in my future.
“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” Helen Keller

  11. Hmm, starting this process I thought it would be simple to think of one thing I really love about myself, something that doesn't include others or my surroundings, but now I'm realizing its going to take a few moments to think. I would say that one thing i love about myself is consistency and ability to stay true to myself and what I believe and love regardless of the circumstance or situation I am faced with. Being able to stay true to yourself is hard for a lot of people, but it's one thing that I never have a hard time doing, and one of my favorite qualities about myself. I love myself :)

  12. I love my sense of humor. Slightly self-deprecating, often witty with a keen sense of comedic timing. Most of all, love my ability to see the humor in life even when, just sometimes, it doesn't seem funny at all. Life is meant to be lived and I bought a ticket for a comedy. Cute blog!
